I'm not sure if the podcast is a drug, but that's easy to say when I'm getting my regular fix.
This was a nuanced reading that added much emotional depth to the story, or at least to my understanding of it.
I find many of the stories here at Clarkesworld a little too conceptual for my tastes, but this one struck a good balance for me between high concept and simple narrative. Well done, all.

Hi Kate,
I really enjoyed this one, kind of Cyberpunk in a druggy kind of way. You said in this podcast, you wondered what life would be like in the future if all our senses were used to get us high, well in a way, they already do, what part of our decision making is NOT controlled by pheromones, hormones etc? do you really want that cheeseburger? or is a hormone in your stomach telling you to eat it? Do you want to ask that girl out because she's truly interesting? or is your body's reproductive clock is tell you to propagate your DNA? I often wonder, if we could take away all the hormonal and physical demands our body makes on the brain/personality, what would be left of the purely intellectual personality? You probably would even recognise yourself without all the physical drives. How much is you? and how much is the monkey brain behind the wheel?
