An Hao earned a master’s degree in animal science, worked in animal husbandry and genetic engineering, and is a practitioner of Xingyiquan, one of the Chinese Internal Martial Arts. He writes science fiction and ancient Chinese-style fantasy, as well as wuxia. His short story collection Yes the Spring-Times Needed You Deeply was published in 2017 and his short story “Yardang Tides” won the 2022 Lenghu Award.
